Has traffic gotten worse in your area?
I drive 11 miles to work. I take NJ Route 10 which is a well paved, straight, three lane road for 9 of the 11 miles. Usually, if I leave my house at 7:00 A.M., I can be in my office by 7:30. 30 minutes is a long time for 11 miles, but with the congestion we have in this area, its about what I would expect.
This morning I left 1/2 hour late. I left my house at 7:30 but didn't get to work until 8:30. A full hour to go 11 miles. There were no accidents or incidents, just congestion. People in my office, who come in at about that time agreed the the amount of congestion has gotten to the point where the commute takes almost twice as long as it did a few years ago.
My region, the northeast, has been congested for a long time, but now I hear that it is everywhere. I am curious, how is the congestion where you are? How long does it take you to commute?

Fortunately, I subway to work, so don't encounter traffic on a daily basis. But I don't think the DC area has the distinction of having the second worst traffic in the country (after LA) for nothing!!
Yes, I'd say over just the past 4 months it has gotten about 1/3 worse.... I work at home and our son moved back in 4 months ago (just for a couple of weeks, you understand), so now there are 3 cars crowding the driveway. I had to move the S up and over on Saturday because we were taking the Spitfire out to a breakfast and couldn't get it past the 2 trucks....that's just wrong when there's even a backup on a Saturday.
^^
My commute is easy. Four miles on a 4 lane road. About 8 min with lights and traffic.
The overall traffic situation has gotten much worse here. We're in an extended period of population growth. Great for the local economy--and for the community, I think. But a nightmare for drivers. Snowbirds clogging up the streets and restaurants everywhere! Some even try and tell us how to run things down here!

Depending on what time they leave, some of my colleagues need over an hour for a 15 mile commute. Me, I just paid a little extra so I could live closer by the office. I have better things to do than waste my time every morning/evening being stuck in traffic...

Uhm... Actually, according to some report on CNN last year, that dubious honor goes to the area around the I-10/610 intersection in Houston... Which I find absolutely credible.

Yeah - I've been on LA freeways during rush hour and I laugh...Our I-635 in Dallas has been worse than that for years, and Houston has that beat (Houston traffic really sucks).

Gee, I think traffic is getting bad everywhere. I live in the metro Atlanta area and I moved here from South Jersey. Commuting into Philadelphia for 15 years was no problem but Atlanta is a whole different ballgame. I put Atlanta with LA & DC;
My commute into CC Philly is about the same as Rob's : 12 miles and 1/2 hour (typical) = 25 mph average
I almost always avoid the expressway and river drive...taking a myriad of local city streets. I once counted up about 30 trafffic lights and an equal number of turns. OTOH, very few others use this 'home grown' commuting route and the commuting time hardly changes no matter when I leave home...

Green Bay may not be on a coast, it may not have culture, it may not have a large population of cheap prostitutes, but you can travel fast almost everyday of the year, except when it snows, then just add 50%.
I am traveling 11 miles now, 15-17 minutes, and that includes some residential on both ends of my trip. I think there MIGHT be a rush minute, but I haven't seen it.
I traveled to Neenah for about 3 months. That was 42 miles and took me on average about 38 minutes.
