Rob, I think that you got a few wrong! Or at least the point could be debated.

Buddy Holly and the Crickets-That'll Be The Day : Shouldn't be Peggy Sue?
Chuck Berry-Back In The USA : Johnny Be Good
Beach Boys-Surfin USA : I will concede this one.
Donovan-Colours : Sunshine Superman?
Janis Joplin-Piece of My Heart or Down on Me : Or Bobby McGeeVan Morrison-Brown Eyed Girl : Or Moon Dance

Dean,

I know that Dylan wrote "Blowin in the Wind" but I somehow associate that song with Peter, Paul and Mary. I think if I could give them three signature songs they would be "Blowin in the Wind", "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright" (also written by Dylan) and "Puff".

I think Dylan's signature song has to be "Like a Rolling Stone". It's hard to give him one though, hes written and sung so many great songs.

By the way, I happen to think that the Band's "The Weight" is one of the best rock songs ever written, and it is absolutely the Band's signature song. Had you not mentioned it, I would have.

Psssst, Rob that's Candle in the Wind, and some would argue that Benny and the Jets was Elton John's signature song. Also, I would argue that Donovan's signature song was Mellow Yellow. Then again, I may have smoked too many banana peels.

The Fluorescent Leech & Eddy - So Happy Together

Yes you are right, Candle in the Wind. I don't know what I was thinking. I was considering Benny and the Jets, but I think more people know Candle and associate Elton John with it.

I agree with most of the above. Many are debateable, but not worth the debate. Some I must disagree with.

1. Elton John; Your Song. No debate on this one. It is and will remain his signature song.

2. David Bowie; Changes. Space Oddity is a great song, but Changes is the essence of Bowie and the one Bowie song that has a lasting message.

3. Dylan; Like a Rollin' Stone. Others are truly great. I could entertain a vote for Tangled Up in Blues, Don't think Twice and The Story of the Hurricane along with the titles mentioned above.

4. B52s; Love Shack. Sorry vintage B52 fans, but while The Rock Lobster propelled the unique B52s style into the mass phsyche, they eclipsed themselves with Love Shack.

5. The Ramones; Rock and Roll High School.

6. Chuch Berry; Johnny B Goode.
