Default How fast have you driven your S2000

My wife let out a little cheer yesterday when Shadow first tested out the leftmost digit on the speedometer. So that got me thinking ...

What's the fastest you've driven your S2000 on a public road? Or if you'd rather only talk about track speeds, write a post about how fast you've gone on a track.

(I'm asking here on Vintage because I'm primarily interested in stock S2000s, rather than heavily modified ones, though I'm interested in answers from everybody. Also, people may be less prone to exaggeration here than in some of the other forums.)

130+, 3am on a very straight, very empty highway

I'll never do it again. absolutely not worth the risk. but I probably exceed 100mph maybe 2-3x a year, just for kicks.

I "allegedly" went 115 I had an empty highway and could of run flat out but I wimped out as I didn't want to take a chance on getting caught or have a deer or moose run out in front of me.

2......fast that is.......I've been to 135 but the shortage of highway made me let off. I want to try for 150 at least once. If you hear a crunch, a loud bang and a string of profanities you'll know it's me.

Only around 85 so far, but I haven't been anywhere suitable yet.
I used to love zooming up a hill on Rt 17 North between Paramus and Mahwah. I could hit 110 easy in my T-Bird SC before the crest. The revenue collectors were never waiting for people speeding UP the hill

I also managed 125 on 287 when the last section first opened.

I've had it over 115 twice. Both times were on a very wide, very straight, very deserted road. And only in daylight so I can see if the road is clean and free of wandering wildlife.

I am curious about the two people that posted 150 - 159. What mods do you have? Supercharged? Gear ratio?

I have always thought that the top speed of a stock S2000 (Car & Driver) is 146 MPH.

What is the top speed of a 2000 -2003 Stock S from what you have heard?

I know I've been in the high teens, so I voted for 120-129

Ah, the impetuousity (word?) of vintage...

I had mine up to 147 mph with the top down and it felt like it was close to it's max. The only performance mod I have is a Muz cold air intake, and I am not sure if it was on the car at the time.
There was no one in front of me, so traffic wasn't a problem. I won't push it that fast on the highway again. The car felt very stable, I could not feel any lift at all.
