Default 1970 Plymouth Superbird

Although raised in a Ford family, I've had a fascination with the '70 Plymouth Superbird ever since I was a kid and frequently saw one parked at the local McDonald's.

Anyone out there also fascinated by the 'Winged Warrior'?

I love these things too!

In fact, as a kid I had a huge toy car collection, with many models of American cars. At the time, I really thought cars like the Firebird convertible and Corvette Stingray were simply figments of the toy designer's mind. It was only as a teenager I realized that these cars existed, albeit in a distant land.

As a kid, I thought all cars were black, gray, red, or navy blue. The first hint of additional colors was a mint green Ford Escort in the early '70s. All our cars were small and sensible, nothing like the wild American cars of the '50s, '60s, and early '70s.

One of these just sold at auction for a little north of $300K! (Factory Hemi, auto, in FAIR to GOOD condition, non-matching console and dash)

I only remember seeing one in person once. It was sitting on a dealer lot as my family and I drive by on our way to somewhere. I must have been about 8 at the time. I remember commenting about the ugly mods that some stupid poseur had made to his car. My older brother informed me that I had just insulted the most bad-ass car ever conceived.

One was just auctioned at the Barret Jackson event in Scottsdale and it brought a incredible amount of dollars. $180K if I remember correctly.

Nice there is always a place in my heart for those 60's and 70's muscle cars. I had a 77 firebird. loved that car.

There is always a Superbird or two at the Chryslers @ Carlisle show >LINK ...always in July. I'm a pretty big MoPar fan but I never really liked this model very much....too much in front and too much in back

You should plan a July trip to central PA and go to the show! There are literally hundred of cars on display there....show field, car corral (FS) and all the other big show stuff! Unless there's some conflict, I will be there

I was never a big fan of muscle cars, but, I have to admit that looking back today, some of them were really nice. Some have aged well.

I'm not so sure about the Superbird though. I didn't much like it then, and I still feel pretty much the same way.
