Default There ought not to be a law

I liked Robs idea so here's a place to talk about laws that shouldn't be.

I'll start it out.

Police shouldn't be able to confiscate property.

Florida hogs should be allowed to farrow in farrowing pens.

Marijuana should be legalized

The exchange of money should not render an otherwise legal act illegal.

There shouldn't be a law telling us to turn our headlights on when it rains, but there is.

There shouldn't be a law to force people to wear seatbelts, but there is.

There shouldn't be a law to force (moto)cyclist to wear helmets, but there is.

There should be a generic law that people use common sense, but there is none.

Police shouldn't be able to confiscate property--absolutely correct

Common sense law--if were only that easy--I'm all for it

All tax laws should have an expiration date

Anyone should be able to drive in the "car pool" lane

Gas additives should not be regulated by state governments

Apparently it's illegal to drive more than 2,000 sheep down Hollywood Boulevard at one time--I'd like to see that repealed.

No speed limits for those who have a high-speed license.

How about no speed limits, period - at least on the expressway?

Just ticket for dangerous stuff like driving drunk, failing to signal lane changes, driving while holding something other than the steering wheel in one's hand, etc.

While I disagree with the first three comments, I understand the points are debateable. As to the fourth point, there is such a law. It is called "negligence." Some people think it should be legislatively repealed.
