What does Vintage mean to you?
The Vintage forum is about a year and three quarters old. Those of us who were here at the beginning have seen it grow and blossom. From a small group who came here to get away from the "noise" and nonsense that was all too prevalent in some of the other forums, Vintage has grown to be dynamic place. Originally founded as a place where those of us over the age of 40, and those preVints who cared to join us, could come to discuss the topics that were important to us. Founded on the premise of "no flames, no offensive language or the use of offensive language", Vintage has become an oasis, a place where ideas can be shared, discussed and compared. Sometimes the discussion gets a little heated and sometimes we stray from the original premise, but mostly, that is the essence of Vintage.
I am curious, and I hope everyone, participants and lurkers alike, will answer my question. What does the Vintage forum mean to you?

Intelligent conversation shared by people who also share a love of the S2000. There's lots of good input on this forum. Believe me, if I found better discussion on Street Encounters, I'd be there.
Incidentally, my dogs aren't very good conversationalists, and tend to "fold early" when we get into political discussions. Rob doesn't.

Vintage:
Means you know what a 40 mm DCOE sidedraft is!! Not to mention jetting, dwell, getting stuck (meeting interesting people while stuck) and rambling...
OHHHH God I'm not just vintage, I'm OOOOld!
Ahhh, nothing that a spin in S2k with the top down can't cure....
Maybe that's what vintage really means...knowing that nothing is really that traumatic, and tomorrow's another day!

Vintage is a corner of my life that I know I'll find friendly people in, to share something from my life and to listen to what others want to share about their life. I find it an interesting place. Many times I find joy in what I read and I learn all kinds of things. There's more but that's a start.
Well, Vintage is a really big part of my life now. Not hard to figure that out!!
Time flies when you are having fun...and I've been having a blast! There have been changes of course, since the beginning, but it continues to be one of the most popular forums on S2Ki. Some of our original members have disappeared (
), but we are gaining new members all the time. I've also noticed recently that quite a few more preVints (the under 40 crowd) have been posting and wanting to attend our events. Needless to say, I'm very gratified.
As long as we keep the original spirit of the forum intact (as Rob said - "no flames, no offensive language") and continue to discuss our topics in a mature way (well... mostly mature
), I think the forum has a very bright future.
Lastly, when I think of Vintage, I think of the old Girl Scout song. It certainly applies:
Make new friends
And keep the old
One is silver
And the other gold!
I'm so happy to have made many wonderful friends in Vintage and look forward to adding to the list!

I'm not sure that we've totally lived up to our "no flames, no offense" charter, but given the politics in the US these days, I think we've done mighty well keeping a dialogue going and representing all views.
I continue to love reading others' posts here, and participating in some of the wonderful discussions that get going here.
You are a great group of people. Be proud of yourselves. You represent a perspective (on all subject matter) that's not often seen around the web.
As Deb mentioned, I too hope our members who have gone AWOL come back to see us. They will be impressed with what we've become.
p.s./ Chemist, you should register with us and become a member. See the membership thread at the top of the Vintage page.

I work alone, no secretary, no employees, so Vintage is kinda like someone to talk to during the day. Plus I learn stuff, except when Dean talks biology, I get a headache.
What I like best about vintage is the bantering back and forth on various subjects of interest without anyone getting to PO'd. I know sometimes I twist the screws kind of hard. Feel free to twist them back.
