2005 Daytona 200
In todays Daytona 200, perhaps the worlds premiere motorcycle road race, Honda factory riders Miguel DuHamel, Kurtis Roberts and Jake Zemke lapped the entire field of sixty-eight other riders! Only the fourth and fifth place riders where one lap down, the rest of the field had been lapped several times by the trio.
Honda displayed there dedication to "Performance First" as their tag line states that they use in their advertising with this dominating performance. There is something truly impressive with watching a 600cc motorcycle that is flashing across the start/finish line at Daytona at 185 MPH.
Did anyone else watch the race?

Matt, I wanted to comment but mine would have been about Honda's future in NASCAR (Toyota is there so Honda can't be far behind). But I figured the NASCAR bashing would start in earnest again (not by you) so I opted not to post.
As an aside, it seems Honda has pretty much taken over the IRL. If you don't have Honda power there your chances of winning are low.

I just had to add to my previous comment. Just after I posted it I had the afterthought.
Their is the old addage about "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday"! Well I guess that Toyota management has made the commitment to change their image a bit and go after Honda's reputation for bringing their racing technology and incorporating it into the performance of their street vehicles. Honda of course has the advantage of their motorcycle racing teams as a vehicle to do this.
It should be an interesting year in motorsports.
Curious as to other's thoughts?

Matt,
I watch every year--even been a couple of times. BUT, I looked on my TIVO on Saturday and didn't see it.
I'm truly amazed that Honda can pull off such a dominating performance, especially since Kawasaki has such a good, powerful, slippery 600.
Do you know if they're going to replay it?
