MERRY CHRISTMAS
There, I,ve said it. I am going to celebrate Christmas this year in spite of all the "happy hollidays" greetings I get from retailers and such. I know that we are in an age of PC to the extreme but I refuse to participate on this one.

Again Merry Christmas to all.

I have about 21 people coming to our house on the 23rd. We will eat drink and be merry. We will have my entire immediate family together, which does not happen too often. For me, that is the best part of the holiday.

Early Merry Christmas, everyone!!!

 

It's still in my computer!

I meant to play it with my granddaughter last night and forgot about it.

Maybe that will be our next Tuesday evening activity, after we go looking at Christmas lights.

 

Nice to see how enlightened everyone is.

Gee, I'm not sure I should respond to a thread called "Merry Christmas."

The liberals might think I was not politically correct

 

Due to the lunar Jewish calendar, Hannukah actually coincides with Christmas this year. I don't remember this ever happening in my lifetime, but I did read somewhere that it happened in the mid 1980s (I guess I'm having a vintage moment. )

In any case, though it's a little early I like the sentiment! Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and whatever else you celebrate. Just celebrate something, since I've learned recently that life is very fragile and needs to be enjoyed.

 

I get a kick out of all the sensitivity shown over this issue every year, as if this holiday belongs to any particular group. The fact of the matter is that the holiday and many of its associated traditions can be traced directly back over four thousand years to the Mesopotamians. The holiday wasn't declared a Christian holiday until around 350 CE by the bishop of Rome following the declaration of the divinity of Christ by the Council of Nicea in 300 CE. The Persians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, and Celts had been celebrating the holiday, and observing many of the same traditions that we still observe today, for many centuries prior to the advent of any of the monotheistic religions.
As a descendant of British Celts and a pagan, I declare rightful ownership of the holiday and I would like to have it returned to me please.

 

I'm with ya on this -- but, at least around meal time, I'll need to opt out of the sacrificial rituals, if it's OK. HPH
