Default Nominations for a new Vintage CO

EDIT: I would like to have the co-CO position filled by Dec 20th.

It is with regret that I inform you that Chaz is resigning as Vintage co-CO. He would like to be out by the holidays. So we need to nominate/choose a new one soon. This process carries more importance than usual, since I am also resigning in the near future. I do not have a firm date yet, but it will be no later than Spring Fling in June. Before everyone jumps to conclusions about the reasons for our decisions, both Chaz and I have been thinking about it for awhile. I will leave it up to him to post about his resignation. I'll post about mine when it happens.

As for nominations, I think you all know what is needed in a leadership role for Vintage. Enthusiasm for the forum and its members is paramount, but also the capability to relate evenhandedly to the various members and moderate the discussions in a fair manner. And take the lead in organizing our meets. I know we have candidates who can step up and take a leadership role. I am opening up the floor for nominations. As I did last time, I will take into account all the nominations for CO, but I reserve the right to make the final decision, since I (and any future CO) have to be able to work effectively with this person. Chaz has been a good CO, and I'm sorry to see him resign. But I look forward to working with a new, dynamic member of the community. Post away...

Both of you are resigning?

I'm sorry to hear this. You have both given an amazing amount of time and effort to this forum and the people here. Your shoes will be hard to fill.

I'm very sorry to see Chaz go. If it was prompted by my comments yesterday regarding elitism, I want Chaz to know that I was only expressing my reaction to the allegation.

I'm wondering if Rob wants to step back in again....

This is very sad news .

You both did a great job, anyone stepping in is going to have extremely large shoes to fill.

Deb, can we talk you out of resigning? I will buy you a present.

I can't think of anyone right now.

I thought(think) Chaz did(is doing) an excellent job. He is young enough to understand the youthful expressions presented on-line but mature enough to understand Vintage views. I'm guessing he was given too much grief for a volunteer job and I'm sorry to see him leave.

Deb, you too, are doing an excellent job and I hope your reasons for leaving are going to be happy ones.

As most of you know, the last few weeks have been impossibly hard on me. The death of my dad is like an open wound, and I have felt that the responsibility of Vintage forum is too much for me at this time. That is essentially why this is happening now.

I want to say back to Debs that she's been a wonderful co-CO (I still love saying that! ) and a personal friend. She is level-headed, calm in a storm, and just an all-around wonderful person to work with. Debs has been leading the forum since its inception, first with Rob and later with me. I, too, am sorry she has decided to resign CO-ship.

As for the community... I've said this many times before; I think of you as family. I'm not going anywhere, as I know how valuable Vintage is and how much it means to me. I'm just passing the reins.

Toward that end, there are a few folks I'd like to nominate / suggest who I think would be great candidates for Vintage COs, if they are interested. I think we have a deep, engaged membership and there are many more good candidates out there, but here's my list:

(Roy) Canberra,
Dean,
(Marco) Matrix,
Tom(catt),
Legal Bill, and
Lainey(8484),

Sincere best wishes. -- chaz

^ Thanks, Bill, but my mind is pretty well made up. As I said above, Chaz and I have both been thinking about it for quite awhile. I only posted about mine now in the interest of full disclosure, so people would know what is coming down the road and plan accordingly. Both Chaz and I feel it is time for a change at the top.

Chaz, having lost my Dad and Rick's in a short time frame, I know what you are going through. I was pretty much a basket case for a while in 2003. Too much on my plate. Your life takes on a new dimension and you've got added responsibilities as far as helping out the surviving parent.

You've got to take care of yourself, your family and if possible limit what's on your plate.

I appreciate the nomination, but no thank you.

I don't feel comfortable making my time here a responsibility.

I to both you and Deb for all your time and effort on this forum.
