After speaking with Deb and Chaz, I have agreed to serve as the co Co of Vintage if the membership wants me. This last part is critical. Please post your thoughts here. Also, if others want the job, you can say so here, or start your own candidacy post. You should feel free to say why you don't want me as CO. I would love to hear it now, and not after I have taken the post.

My Platform.

I really love this forum. I think it is an interesting place to visit. I spend too much time here, but I really like the people and the conversations. I agree with Rob's big tent view of Vintage. All are welcome and all subjects are welcome within reason. We ask only for a degree of maturity and civility in your posts. Off topic discussions are fine with me, just don't be rude to the thread owner.

I would serve as co-Co with Deb and I would moderate the political sub-forum too. This will eliminate the need for two new COs at this time. I think the mod of the political discussions should be a mod of the entire forum anyway.

I would try to act as other COs have before me. I would warn people if things got too hot. I would delete offensive posts rather than close threads, if at all possible.

I will not tolerate personal attacks on members or visitors.

I will not allow personal attacks on public figures that amount to a bunch of noise. Bitsa's posts about Bush are a good example. I would delete the posts that say someone is a _______. If you want to post why you think Bush is wrong, or mean or not too bright, it needs to be accompanied by a point that has something to do with something that happened. Feel free to ask questions about my policy on this. I think it is an important issue and I don't want any one to think they were voting for candidate A and got candidate B.

I won't tolerate fights for very long.

I would be an active event organizer, because the best part is when we all get together.

A. Please run for CO yourself, or at least say you don't want me here in this thread.

Q. Will you always be here?
A. No, I'm often away on business and there could be weeks when I'm not on at all.

Q. Will you fight for us against the site administrators?
A. Maybe. If I can see why a change serves the greater good of the site and is a marginal issue to Vintage I will not fight the change. If I see the change as harmful to the character of the forum, I will argue the point till the very end. Once the change is made however, I will support it. If you are looking for Norma Rae, find someone else.

I'll answer any questions, but other than that, I'm not going to add to this thread. Feel free to go negative on me. This is a political thread that can't be closed (I don't think...)

I think you'll do an excellent job. I've always been impressed with your posts when you are rallying the troops both here and in New England. Your wit, charm and sense of fair play will serve us well.

We will all promise to behave when you are away on business too!

If this mean Spring Fling 07 will be on Cape Cod, I'll vote for you twice.
