Default Richard Pryor dies at age 65 of a heart attack

I have been a long time fan of this creative genious. Many people may not know that the was one of the creative forces along with Mel Brooks behind the classic comedy movie "Blazing Saddles". He was originally Mel Brooks choice to play the Sherriff, but the studio that that he was too far out there as far as his reputation.

RIP Richard Pryor

I didn't know he died. He was funny, and I'm always happy to hear him on XM 150.

It's amazing he made it to 65, considering how he abused his body. He had a sharp wit for sure. Sadly, like so many comedian's he was best when he was "high".

He even made his tragedy of lighting himself on fire when he free-based cocaine (I think) into part of his routine.

Yeah. He would light a match on stage and then say, while moving the now lit match from one side to the other, "Yeah, yeah. I know what ya' all say. 'What's this? Richard Prior running down the street.'"

He was, in my opinion, the greatest ever.
