Default Samsung computer flat panel monitor

Fellow vintagers- I would post this in the computer forum, but it looks like it's seldom looked at. Different stores have been advertising a 19 inch flat panel LCD Samsung monitor at various prices. Cheapest was $199.99 but they sold out in 30 minutes. Regular price is around $329-399 depending on the store. I can still pick one up for $225, but the one I saw in the store didn't have a really sharp image, or great color (compared to the $500 Sony sitting beside it). I don't know if it's the monitor or bad adjustment. Anybody have one, and do you like it? Thanks.

I bought 20 of them in last year and am buying another 4 this week, so I guess that means I like them. One thing to consider is the refresh rate and the types of inputs. Analog is a db15 and digital is DVI so I pay a little more to get it with both so that when the computer is upgraded to DVI the monitor does not have to be replaced also.

I've had one for just over a year, and love it. I forget exactly which model it is, but it was one of the cheaper ones.

I had a high-quality 21" Hitachi CRT monitor before, and I actually prefer the Samsung.

I just bought the Samsung SyncMaster 914v. Probably the same one you're looking at, same price, around $225 on sale. I like it. Much better on the vintage eyes.

I bought an Acer 17" LCD flat screen for my office. I liked it so much I bought one for myself to use at home.

I do business with a local computer guy and I think I paid too much. $265.00. He just sold my boss the 19" for that same price.

I do have a slight problem with my home one. The desktop shifts slightly after the computer has been shut down. It's supposed to "auto config" when the computer is booted up, and it's not doing it. My office one goes right to the "auto config" while at home I have to push the button.

So, not sure I'd recommend this particular brand, but the flat screen is the BEST!

Edit: If any of the computer guys have an idea of a fix for this configuration problem, let me know. I did find a website with drivers for Acer monitors, but have no idea if that's my problem. The company has not responded to my email.

I have XP Home at home and XP pro at the office.

The thing is I have no idea how/where to check for drivers ,or to find out if they are current.

As mentioned I did find a web site with drivers for the Acer monitors, but not sure if I should download. As far as video adapters, again not sure what you mean. Both monitors are the same model, used the cables that came with them, etc.

My home monitor just started doing this about a month ago. My work monitor is fine.

This is the link for the drivers that I found. I have an AL1715 Model.

Apologies to Morris for the thread hijack.

I bought two Acer 19" monitors from www.NewEgg.com.

I highly recommend the Acer, and NewEgg for really great prices and service.

I agree on Newegg - great service and good prices. Not always the lowest price, but dependable, which counts for a lot.

I bought the monitor from Circuit City. I think mine's a Samsung Syncmaster 912n, if I remember correctly.
