Default Vintage and Antique chewing

I was just watching the news and there was this past vintage, antique individual who I would assume by the sunken cheek bones was missing his teeth.

He was continually chewing, I've seen this many times and often wonder what the deal is? What's in there?

It never dawns on me to pry open someones mouth and look, or even ask them what it is they are chewing so I'll ask this group.

What are you chewing in there?

If its false feeling from loss of teeth why not get a set of dentures or chew some gum to make it a bit more entertaining for yourselves.

Just curious, I'll be there one day so it would be nice to prepare.

It is an odd thing to ponder. I occasionally take my teeth out and having nothing better to do, I massage my gums. it probably appears to the uninformed that I am chewing but i am only working to regain my circulation.

After an auto accident at the end of '04 I have a new appreciation of guming it, that's why I am in the middle of having 3 implants.

You only have to hang around the court house a short time to realize that missing teeth and age having nothing in common.

We went to a bar once..........OK, more than once......... Anyway, Rick had a co-worker playing in a band, so we went to this particular bar to hear him, it was not exactly a high class joint. I looked around at the patrons while we were there and
I later re-named the bar the "tooth optional bar."

It was strange, and sad at the same time. It wasn't just old people with dental issues many of the young people were in the same boat.

Dental care is not cheap and many cannot afford it.........but that topic probably belongs in the political thread, along with the health care mess .
