I currently have an etrade account. Nothing really super about them, pretty adequate I would say.

Comments on your experiences?

I have a Charles Schwab account and have for years now. They started as a pricier, higher-value trading firm. Since, they have transitioned to a low-cost ($13 trades online) house. They still have some pretty good research tools because they are a larger firm, and I have called their brokers for advice before and have gotten some sound advice.

Scott, check out Sharebuilder account. I have my Roth IRA and investments through them. Not bad. Etrade was good for me but I find Sharebuilder more of no frills kind of online investment site for those who are comfortable managing their own investments.

I've got scottrade. It's cheap ($7 trades) and there are vitually no other fees. Even if you want to transfer your account to another brokerage - no fees (at least not when I signed up).

Tools are non-existent compared to E-Trade, but your trades are exercised immediately, unlike the $4 sharebuilder ones.

I've used Ameritrade and e*trade and there isn't much between them. Different but I can't say one is better.

I have etrade and ameritrade for my stock. Not bad...My mutual funds I do through online: Vanguard, Invesco/AIM, Franklin Templeton, Fidelity, and Janus. Works for me, quick, simple, and I use Motley Fool and Morningstar for my tools, both have done me well. Plus, I have my father's instincts.

About how fast/slow are TD Ameritrade, E-Trade, and Scottrade when it comes to actually buying?

I'm not too worried about having to sell quickly, but I wouldn't want to miss out on a good deal because my online broker takes an hour to get a trade through.
