Default Highest interest rate on Money Market account?

i am in the process of selling my rental houses and need somewhere safe (NOT THE STOCK MARKET) to put the proceeds until I figure out what to do.

it should be in the range of $300-$400k when all is done.

Anyone know where i can get 6%? I found 5% with a 7 month CD at my credit union....

thanks

I get 4.5% interest on an FDIC insured savings account from ING Direct www.ingdirect.com

I find it a nice place to park cash which is secure, insured and guaranteed and it remains fully liquid. No fees or minimums so if you drain the account later you can sit on the empty account without incurring any penalties.

There are many savings accounts touting 5%+ but albeit a temporary rate.

my credit union has this.....7 month CD at 5% and 15 month CD.

I am not big on CD's.... probably better to take a 4.5% account that has flexibility...

HSBC is 5.05% with no minimums or penalties for withdrawing. IT is same and insured. Good luck!

I have used Emigrant Direct for a long time with great results. The rate goes up and down with the market and is currently 5.05.

Be careful that FDIC only covers the first $100k.

I have a USAA account that is paying around 5.2%. Though, you have to eligible to join USAA. (military or family of military basically)

Both ING and HSBC are HUGE international banks. They are as secure as any national bank. ING has always offered their high rate, it's not a special or limited offer. It's just the regular posted rate.

Allstate is paying 4.25 currently on their savings account. I can even send you a form if you want.
