Rattle & Hum
Hi all,
I've had my S2K for 6 months now (MYO4) and for the first 2-3 months the car was so solid, rattle free and was suitably impressed
But in the last 3 months things are getting worse
Admittedly I have had the roof down at every opportunity so I am thinking this could be related or is it just a coincidence?
The rattles are coming from inside the cockpit and mostly the passengers side, seat / seat belt mechs. I have given everything a good shake when parked but difficult to locate noises when on the move
I have owned a couple of convertibles in the past (Alfa Spider & Barchetta) and my girlfriend had a 206CC so I am used to the noises. All 3 are hardly known for robust build quality however those cars are now only a little worse then my beloved S2K
Anyone recommend anything, what to tighten or have experienced similar problems?

In my experience there's only so much you can glean from discussing this on here... it IS a rattly buzzy squeaky car and is very much fixable you just need a ton of felt anti rattle tape (I have a link at home if you want it), a passenger with a good ear and plenty of patience.
For what it's worth, a common pass side squeak comes from the seatbelt itself rubbing against the upper right hand section of the seat, just infront of the bracket that the belt feeds through.
Need to get my driver doorcard off this weekend to stuff some foam in there as it's buzzing.

I ALWAYS tuck the passenger seat belt clip in to the guide at the top of the seat. Stops it rattling on the plastic trim! I also have a little bit of felt under the drivers seatbelt guide as it rubs on the leather and sound like a rattle right in your right ear!
As to all the others - try lithium greasing all the joints and Si greasing the rubbers. That has helped on all my S's.
BTW Rattle & Hum good album!

Mean while U2's rattle & hum will be on in the background as to give me inspiration!
Lithium grease... will WD40 do the job? I think my seat brackets are squeaking, I also stuck felt under the seatbelt brackets on the actual seat itself but found it wore away fast... now I have the fuzzy part of industrial strength velcro there and it has held its ground since last summer!

Pop some oil on the bonnet catch. It can squeak and (for reasons unknown) the sound always appears to be coming from inside the cabin.
As someone's already mentioned, passenger seatbelt is always worth checking as are the roof catches. Although you've got the roof down, make sure the clips are secured in their closed positions ...

I did both of these, the seat belt sounded like the passenger seat was loose and banging around, I picked up a link on here (and as Mikey K said), about putting the belt catch in the guide rail when you don't have a passeneger, stops it hitting the plastic on the door.
Also I found another link for the bonnet catch which was becoming unbearable, sounded like it was the dashboard, I oiled the catch and now both have completely gone!!

good luck!
