I start my journey with apparently no petrol. None, nothing, zip for a while.

By the end of my journey I have four, yes four bars on the fuel gauge!!
(But do I, what does it mean?? Its all meaningless!!! It could be down to any number after just another few hundred yards)

If Honda built this car to celebrate its 50th birthday why didnt they celebrate it with a gauge that works?!? I mean how does their F1 team cope??

Unbelievable.

PITA isn't it? But it's more accurate than the one in my Primera.

Perhaps this explains the lack of performance of the F1 team - they're constantly running with more fuel than they need as they can't accurately measure it.

It indicates range, If you have been ragging it then stop and park up the next day it thinks you are going to carry on driving like that.

Driving slow obviously uses less fuel and hence your range increases

Better to reset the trip meter each time you fill up and use that as a measure of when you should fill up, anywhere between 200-260 miles seems to be the norm depending on your type of route/driving style.

I usually try not to let it drop below half a tank so don't really notice it too much. It certainly doesn't do it as bad as my last car did though.

Mk 4 Astra 1.6 LS.
