Default Tyre trouble

Well I've checked the FAQ and I'm still a bit confused.

I've just rung Event mobile and they say there is a two week back order on the S02 JZ.
He reckons I can have the Porche fitment (with n3 on the sidewall)
But I'm assuming they're a complete no-no.
The fronts have plenty on them so I want to stick with Bridgestone. The only reason I'm replacing the rears is because they're at 3mm and one has just punctured...

Is the RE050A acceptable with S02 JZ on the front?

I'm a cyclist at the moment.

Yep. He told me it was a shortage. There is a two week wait for them.
Hence the question about the RE050A.

I didn't notice any reference to those when I did a search. I'll try again.

This is the latest thread HERE, I had a customer this morning who needed two rears on his S, I could source a couple at silly money so he contacted Black Circles who didn't have any, he is now sorted with Event Mobiles, HP postal codes so I hope it is quicker than 2 weeks.

Well I definitely can't get hold of the ES02 JZ for at least two weeks through Event mobile in Manchester.
And seeing as I can't take the car anywhere anyway, and in the absence of anybody actually telling me NOT to fit 225/50 R16 RE050A's. That's what I'm going to have to get.

Unless somebody else can suggest an alternative?

FWIW, during my 04 tyre saga I exchanged some email with a guy at Bridgestone, someone mentioned about S02s being discontinued this was his response verbatim:

[QUOTE]
The S02 was the OE tyre for the original 16 inch fitment.

SO2's have been sadly discontinued and even if you get yourself a set of them I really wonder what the point is, since they will be about a year old or more - production has stopped for some time now.

I had the same problem myself but finally gave up on the dilemma, bought meself a set of new MY04 wheels, so that at least I have a number of tyre brands to choose from, and can stop worrying what different tyre sizes can do to the handling of the car.

I rest my case.

That would be a rather expensive option! But I like it.

Thanks for the clarification jgsquash.

At least they're cheaper than the S02's!

I run the RE050's and they appear to give better grip in the wet than the S02's I had on my previous S2000. Ideally you want the same tyre tread pattern on all four wheels for optimum performance.
