Default Just bought a new S2000 - Awaiting delivery

Well - today I signed on the dotted line - and in 3-4 weeks my new baby will be with me.....

So... A bit of forum searching over the next few days to see what's what...

But if anyone would like to offer any pearls of wisdom to a new owner in Berkshire....please feel free to reply

Cheers

Drive it like you stole it, but only after you've learned to drive it.

Drive it everyday, learn it, love it, respect it.

Result?.........Best fun with your pants on.

Read the whole FAQ from beginning to end. It will be the most productive half hour you can spend learning about the car.

Drive carefully in the wet.

Check the tyre pressures and oil often esp when new.

Take the roof off at every available opportunity

Remove the lid of the airbox, (instructions in FAQ) and drive through a tunnel in VTEC.

place lid back on airbox

ok leave it off for a bit for some fun

keep your eyes on your tires, oil, run in carefully, put a decent stereo in it, get some floor mats, go easy on the loud pedal in the wet, race all imprezas even the ones with sti badges

enjoy!

Just running mine in now;

Used VTEC 5500-6500 rpm when I'd 630 miles on the clock and added 1000 rpm for each subsequent 100miles... Hope this is OK; I haven't used any oil at all yet mind you (having looked at other threads, it sounds best to top up with Magnatec). Up to 920 miles now, will VTEC all the way after 1000 miles.

Have driven quickly round some familiar roads in the wet, I don't think VSA has had to help out yet - am I right in believing the dash will indicate when VSA has to correct you?

Gearbox tightened up significantly within 300 miles on mine.
