Default Bought a Navman F20

I would like to mount the unit as close to the driver as possible, to make it as easy as possible to see and hear the directions.

I searched and found a thread on the Modifry bracket, which looks quite a neat solution, but it's for a LHD car. Does anone know if this will work with a RHD car, or did anyone produce a suitable version? There was some talk of a group purchase, i believe.

Any other possibilities? Thanks.

He does a RHD version - I have it fitted it to my car.

Let me know if you need any further details.

modify do a rhd version http://www.modifry.com/products/mounts/mdb-rhd.htm

I was going to get one for my tomo tom but have never got around to it...

That combined with a mount from http://www.brodit.com/ if you don't have a mount means you can power it while in the cradle and remove it easily to prevent theft.

Why dont you hardwire a female cig lighter into the fusebox and mount the cig lighter above the fusebox? You can then plug your navman directly into it to power it and mount the navman unit in the bottom right corner of the windscreen..It looks really smart there and you can hide the wire down the side of the A pillar behind the dash..I did this to my Tom Tom.

Takes about 5 mins to wire it into the fusebox using the spares...

Dead easy job even i did it!

Many thanks for the replies. Actually Bandit's method does bring the unit much closer than at present and looks quite neat, so i think i'll give that a go first. Do you need to remove or loosen any trim?

It occurred to me. If i bought a USB A - 5 pin mini B (to connect to the F20) cable, could i chop off the USB A connector and wire the lead straight into the fuse box? I'm guessing there would be a choice of 5 wires, and two carrying the charge would be the ones to wire to the fusebox. I'm no electrician, so this may be a silly idea. Anyone know?

Don't do that, the USB only carries 5 Volts so you will blow the unit.

The way i did it is buy a twin or triple cigarette lighter unit, wire that to the fuse box, affix the unit under the drivers footwell and just plug in the charger from there. This means you can remove the the charger whenever you want and also keep the inline fuse to protect the nav unit.

Dont need to loosen any trim, just tuck the wire down the side of the A pillar..Go buy a female cigarette extension lead and chop the ends off, connect up a spade on one end and a fork on the other.Connect one to the 12v power spare supply of the fuse box and the other to a sufficient earth(I used the bolt to the right of the fusebox).

Dead simple....Drop me a pm if you have difficulty, but bear in mind that i am a dumbass and i managed to do it so i expect you will have no problems.

Thank again Bandit.

I think it's going to be a bit difficult stuffing that anti-kink curly lead into the trim. I found this gismo on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...92815&rd=1&rd=1

If i snip off the male adaptor and wire it into the fuse box, preumably i can use any old (straight) USB A to 5pin mini USB to connect from it to the NavMan?

Also, i assume i can use the same lead to d/l safety camera updates and charge the unit from my PC USB port?
