Default advice on painting exhaust

ok guys and gals, im going to be removing my stock '02 exhaust and plan on spray painting EVERYTHING that can be seen from outside flat black. this is going to be for visual purposes only so it will match the black top and my black wheels and emblems. i'm an artist and know how to paint and clean and sand and prime but i wanted to know if anyone had done something similar to this and had any advice for me. i've never painted anything that gets hot like exhaust does. i planned on getting all my supplies from lowes or autozone or some similar store. any recomendations on paint brands and types would be appreciated.

ps- as far as i know im the only person i can think of to do this. but if im wrong i would LOVE to see some pictures of anyone else who has done this.

thanks

I have an 02 suzuka blue and when I had my exhaust off I painted the canisters you can see flat black. It looks alot better than what it was..ill try to take a few pics tomorrow and post them up for you. I just used some high temp flat black paint I had laying around and its been like that for about 6 months with no peeling or anything.

I always paint the exhaust on all my cars to help prevent rust. I use black BBQ grill paint. Holds up pretty good.

I have a single exhaust, with an Ap1 rear bumper; I painted my exhaust using "high temp paint" looks great I will post up some pics of it. Note their is no pealing or anything. All I did was clean the area, tape off my bumper etc then painted it I am awaiting for the bumper cap to go back in stock this way I will have the ultimate stealth look

its a good idea after painting it and letting it dry well to go over it after and bake it on...I blow torch works well. Read the instructions alot of high temp paints will tell you to do this

Won't have to do much of anything. Prep is minimal. Remove any rust and dirt/grease, then spray it.

Painting is pretty easy, i just used high heat paint from autozone or napa, i did atleast 2 coats color and 2 clear to make sure i got everything. if you have the extra paint i would do 3 color but thats just me. All i did was sand the canister with light sandpaper, cleaned and painted.
