Depends on your preference almost.

An open filter style intake like aem or fujita will give you sound and some gains, but it is most susceptible to hydrolock, where the intake can possibly suck in water, thus going into your engine.

If you get a snorkel, gutting the airbox is a common thing to do but it's not neccessary. This ram air style will be less susceptible to hydrolock if any. This will give you improved throttle response. And maybe noticeable hp gains when the car is at speed.

Has some info on the various intake.

FWIW, I just bought the K&N FIPK (not installed yet though), as I already have the AUT Cooling plate. There are a few dyno's that show gains from this intake.
