Default Who knows carbon fiber interior parts?

Ok, here is my problem: I am going to do, as some have done, and install a gauge into the panel that houses the stereo controls to the left of the steering wheel.

My plan is to ditch the controls and just have the start button and the gauge. I see some put fiberglass cloth and body filler, sand and paint black for a finished look but I am worried about a poor quality finish.

I see that some people have interior pics where the stock bezel is replaced with a carbon fiber panel. Anybody know if these are offered by a particular dealer and if it would be possible to buy one of these panels that fits the stock location but is not precut? My ideal would be to get a blank panel with the start button hole precut and then fit my gauge in the remaining space.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hmmm there is a place that will wrap your dash in carbon fiber, but that is way expensive. There is a board sponsor that sells dash kits which are stickers that you put over your existing dash parts that are carbon fiber. I think they look pretty good but at $250 bucks that a bit steep!

I just found this site:

http://www.protechcomposite.com/servlet/th...neer/Categories

I may buy a small sheet of the CF veneer and see how easy it flxes and bonds to the surface of the panel I am interested in. It may solve my problem for $20.

Hmmm please lemmie know how you will be able to shape or mold this onto the panel you desire. I want a carbon fiber look to some aero parts I am getting but don't want to get those 'carbon fiber stickers" lol..

The panel I wish to cover is a small slightly concave relatively square piece. The method I would test is to glue to the surface, (it only one quarter of a millimeter thick) and trim to the edges. Then drill whatever holes are neccessary. If it does not flex enough to do what I need, then plan B.

I don't plan to wrap any complex surfaces, just cover the face of one small surface. Thats what laminates do.

Not looking for a baller dash, just want this panel to have a better look than spray paint after the gauge install.

I bought a piece of very thin CF veneer for a similar project. It doesn't like to hold a curve much at all. It wants to snap back to flat. The piece I bought had adhesive backing, but you can get it without the adhesive backing and use your own. A stronger glue may help it hold the curve. Needless to say, my attempt failed. PM me if you want more info.

Just get a small sheet of carbon fiber off ebay and cut it to fit. Should be pretty easy to do man. There are tons on how-to's on the net about carbon fiber work.
