Default Can't unscrew the damn shift knob?

am I missing something? I cant remove this thing. Ive read a bunch of threads saying to remove the nut underneath and turn the shift knob the other way.

I dont see it and dont want to ruin anything.

damn, that sucks! maybe a towel wrapped around the knob a few times and a kinda big vice grip would break the lock?

had a gear knob seize on me before too for some reason...

rolled the shift boot down as far as i can
gripped the gear lever with a big vice grip
held onto the vice grip to prevent it from turning with the gear knob
got a big burly muscular guy to turn the gear knob
voila...

:-( Ok that sucks. Yes sorry for the crappy picture but it was from my phone.

Thanks, I will try it. Will I break anything from trying really hard?
