Default S2000 carbon fiber airbox cover..

Hello everybody,

I would like to improve the intake sound of my AP1 '00. I'm not interested into a gain of power (though I don't want to lose some), it's all about sound.

Today, I'm used to remove the OEM intake cover (except for long trips on motorway) : I like the sound, but it is a bit too loud. When I put the OEM intake cover back in place, it is very quiet and does not sound to me like an intake should on a sportscar. I want to find a compromise between OEM intake cover in place sound level and cover removed sound level.

I was wondering if anyone has ever bought a "carbon" intake cover ? I think the carbon cover is stiffer than the OEM plastic one, and may less absorb acoustic waves. I am right ? Does a carbon cover change the intake sound or not ?

I looked at this sort of dry carbon cover : http://www.s2carbonworks.com/00hos2drycaf1.html

If the carbon cover it's not enough, I was thinking of removing the "resonator" (as specified by Spoon) and then the wall in front of the filter ?

What do you think ?

neh, just cut off the resonator box or block off the entrance to the resonator chamber, then cut the wall out in the middle of the intake box, won't get any performance gains but will sound alot nicer

Wow that's cool. A bit overkill on the bolts though. I was thinking I was going to use my old intake elbow in the same way, but a plexi cover over the filter is a nice touch. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery . . .

password JDM makes a carbon and carbon/kevlar airbox lid. by the way, that metal K&N pipe will be hot (not in the good way).

instead of using bolts you can just use weather seal to seal it to the top of hood; thus not getting heatsoak.
