Lightweight Flywheel Inquiry
does putting a lighter flywheel on this car make it "feel" less torquey? I know it doesn't technically lower any torque figures, but i'm more of a butt dyno guy. i honestly don't do that much high rpm driving, so i'm wondering if this mod would be worth it or if it could even be a detriment. and yes, don't laugh, i'm talking about feeling torque in an s2000
. we don't have much, so i definitely don't want to feel like i lost any. if anybody with one could chime in with their experience, that would be great. thanks.

Lighter flywheels do take away some of the torque feel off the line when first starting out. The heavier the flywheel usually makes it feel better when starting out. I had an 8 lb one on my eclipse and definitely felt less power off the line but everything else I liked a lot more with it.
If you like torque it sounds like you are a low rpm guy. In that case expect initial take offs to be somewhat more difficult now that there is less flywheel mass to get the car moving. Also, low rpm gear changes mean the rpm difference between gears is smaller, so it can be harder to time your shifts.
Biggest plus for me was on the downshifts where the engine was much freer to rev to the rpm I desired before clutch-out.
