Clutch Buzz Fix?

Default Clutch Buzz Fix?

I understand that i can swap out for a new oem clutch, but have heard of the buzz coming back....could i avoid this by installing a AP2 tranny? I would imagine the AP2 gearing to not match well the F20C. ACT clucth/comptech fly combo seems to be popular, but even then, the buzz returns on most. Any suggestions or anwsers?

where to begin? ap2 tranny will not cause stop the clutch buzz, but many people love the gearing, shorter 1-4 and longer 5 and 6. after market clutch and lighter flywheel will not work. in my experience, there are only two things that worked with clutch buzz is: one, get an invidia like i did and you wont hear it or two, get an oem clutch with a ap2 flywheel.

i dont recommend either. but the the ap2 flywheel in an ap1 is really dumb idea. although it makes it easier to drive and live with, it takes a little more hp away and might slow you down a little.

i currently have the act h.d. pessure plate and street disc with an 8 pound flywheel. clutch buzz is really loud.

AP2 flywheel...huh? will research into that. im gonna do a picture compare of the clutch plate im taking out and one of the replacement OEM clutch going in. I thought i once read that the buzz is from loose clutch springs, and they made a design change to fix that. am i incorrect?

idk about that one. but, when i had my ap2 clutch in with the stock exhaust, i didnt hear any clutch buzz at all while it was in.

Im wondering if the the heavier AP2 flywheel is the Honda Engineers way of addressing a fix to this clutch buzz issue.

the ap2 heavier flywheel was a way for the s2000 being easier to live with as a daily driver. and it helped the ap2 stay in the power band between shifts with a shorter redline. a heavier flywheel can hold more torque. at a stop light you dont need to give it that much gas to move the s forward like you do in an ap1. also, physics show that a larger rotating mass needs less energy to keep it moving, the down side is that it takes more energy to accelerate it.

My car doesn't track....for right now. The clutch buzz is my only issue. I want to rid the clutch buzz at any cost....it just takes away from the sporty sound that it was intended to have, and it is very audible outside the car (rattling sound). I have a Ti-C 70mm enroute. but the buzz is on my last nerve.

are you sure if it is clutch buzz?? i think i still have my ap2 flywheel, you would need to resurface it but im not sure it you want it though. i did drag with it, not alot compared to other but a lot in deed. i would give it to you if you pay shipping.

The clutch buzz was due to the springs in the pressure plate. The redesigned clutch from MY02-09 fixed the clutch buzz. Those who got it back either had something else wrong or were unlucky enough to have their dealer install an MY00-01 clutch that they happened to have sitting on the parts shelf.

Putting the ap2 flywheel on the ap1 will in no way stop, help or prevent clutch buzz. But will make your ap1 dog slow. It takes more hp to spin a heavier flywheel...hp that won't make it to your wheels.

The heavier flywheel was an attempt by Honda to keep the F22 RPMs up between shifts...the gearing leaves the F22 out of VTEC for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts.
