Default Megan Drift spec

What up... So I have an 02 sebring and just installed the Megan Drift spec, I am loving it by the way... As far as bolt ons go I only have a k&n filter with gutted air box and a act pressure plate other than the exhaust. I am really not doing anything else bolt on wise, they don't do anything and eventually do want to supercharge. I was really going after exhaust for the weight. Now correct me if I am wrong the stock exhaust weighs like 50-60 lbs, the Megan weighs squat. Is this really enough to make my ass end all side happy now... As far as the butt dyno goes I do think I gained in mid range but other than that really just happy with the sound, does not sound raspy, its very deep nice tone and sings in vtec... My front wheels are 17x9 we stretched 225's on, my rears are 17x10 we stretched 255's I do not have a drop yet... Right before I put the wheels on I heard to much contact area its going to slow you down, I didn't think my car felt slower at all. It pretty much handled the same way it did when I had stocks on, however I did notice a little understeer, that was it though... Ever since I put this exhaust on my rear end is breaking loose on me. The day I put the exhaust on I went down my friends street and came back flying, he has a turn right after his house that I never had any problems with my ass kicked out and I did two 360's. I was able to hold it in the road with finess of the gas and e brake but just about crapped my pants. It could have been bad especially with houses all around... Then tismorning, I was heading to work, I was going through a turn felt a little frisky gave it some gas and I just felt the rear just start letting go... If you guys saw this turn its nothing at all... This may sound really dumb but has anyone experienced this when changing out the exhaust, I have a hard time believing 50lbs is causing this, but I do have spare tire delete etc so I guess it is light back there. My tires are pretty much brand new... Sounds like I need to start saving for the suspension I want... Any feed back greatly appreciated. Marcus.

What kind of tires are you running? I assume extremely shitty ones since you stretched your tires for looks and don't care about handling/motorsports.

Ummm did you miss the part where I said "It pretty much handled the same way it did when I had stocks on, however I did notice a little understeer, that was it though" NVM I just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this with changing out exhaust. Even though I didn't want to I took out the CC and ordered a full spring/strut set-up hopefully this will resolve it. If not I will try some different tires but I know its not the tires..... I still want handling but yeah I did stretch the tires, and my setup looks damn good...Marcus

and yes, I owned the megan drift spec, with spare tire delete with OEM wheels and felt no change at all in suspension/weight changes.

Also might be driver skill as well. Stop trying to wannabe drift on local roads too. You might hurt yourself or someone. Take it to the track next time.

Kumho tires. Thanks for the info, this is a sudden change. Doing the suspension, then switch tires. I can take someones opinions things like that, but people ask questions for feedback and respectful opinions. The " wannabe drift" line was a dick head line, read the story again. I've owned many of car, high horsepower cars an pretty comfortable with my driver skill. Thanks for the feed back. Marcus.

LOL @ taking out the credit card as a solution. Sounds like you're running rubish tires (you won't even tell us what kind of Kumho) on an awful stretched setup. You're driving the car harder because of the exhaust and you're noticing your shitty setup.

Good luck getting it handle properly with your Megan coilovers.

Do you have the stock 16" wheels or not? If so you could bung them on and go for a drive to pinpoint the problem... then you can see if it is the wheels/tyres... Just out of interest what are the complete tyre dimension and the exact brand you are running... that would help a lot!!

It's usually not a good idea to go stretching out the sizes for either looks or cost when trying to retain or improve performance... as they say it "pays to play!" I find it hard to believe that the exhaust and spare wheel removal would cause the end to be soo light that it would end up oversteering at any corner...

Like i said, try the old wheels or if you can't try and find another jap set of wheels just to test as i'm sure some of your mates wouldn't mind lending you them for 10 minutes or so... then get back to us with the results and we can go from there...

Nickamsweet, yeah the exhaust an spare tire delete is not causing this that's why kind of stupid question. I ordered koni yellows with some tein springs, been meaning to get suspension so did it. I was thinking about going a little bigger with tires so I will do that an get a nice camber kit. Car is going away soon for winter so I will get this stuff together and get it on in spring. My stocks are bald but good idea. Thanks again. Also OMG VTec just because I have a Megan exhaust that means I bought a Megan suspension setup? Your not trying to help but trying to get under my skin which I don't get. You don't like my setup, that's your opinion, I look at a lot of other peoples cars and dislike a lot of things. We modify cars to make em our own, personally I don't care what you think. Nickamsweet was respectful, he does not agree with the tire stretching but was respectful which is all I ask for as I respect everyone that I talk to on this site. Marcus.

i think you're just too gas happy with the exhaust

17x10 with a 255 is not a bad fitment. if you look at the contact patch of a 255 = 9.8" which is ideal for a 10" rim
