Default NA motor temps

hey guys,
Whats temp should be normal for daily driving ?
I have a koya rad, Fal fans, Js thermostat and mugen fan switch, no ac condenser with aem ems turning the fans on at 180 off at 160
Im at 151- 156 degrees F for coolant on the street and low 140s for freeway

Is the coolant too cold? I have only seen the fans turn on once when i left the car on for 30 min under the sun.

My question developed because when i was FI my temps were in the 170 to low 180. now that im NA its much cooler and its making me uncomfortable.

What temps are u guys seeing?

you're not hitting 3 bars unless you sit in the sun and traffic huh?

i had a similar setup to yours...i changed because it was too cold.

i had the koyo rad., mugen thermostat and fan switch. i was right about where you are.

i took out the thermostat and fan switch. i feel a lot better about it honestly. not reaching 3 bars made me nervous and i wouldn't drive the car hard at all under those conditions ( although it was warm enough to vtec ).

the koyo does keep things much cooler and much longer though. w/out the thermostat and fan switch i stay at about 170-175 on the freeway. probably be a little less when i get a vented hood. 3 bars and above 160 is a good place to be.

running the car around 150 is too cold imho. 185-210 is usually about normal

my aem reads ~200 most of the time

160-170 on the freeway....is the engine stock? sounds a little low for a stock engine with no cooling mods.

Yup, stock like a rock down by the dock... on a chilly night lately. maybe 180 during a normal warm day in LA.

yeah....i guess it has been a lot cooler lately. but still 160 stock, cruising on the freeway is really way too low.

how are you measuring the temps?

water temp gauge through upper radiator hose... that's actually a good question because it does matter. Either way, my buddy is running that chilled water (mugen refrigeration). haha

ok man , thanks for that.
I will do the same because the aem gauge is reading low 150 all the time , and now that is cooler even in the 140s.

thanks again.
