Consuming alcohol. Too much or too little?
I been heartened by recent studies that suggested alcohol in moderation is actually good for you.
At last a bad habit that I don't have to give up.
Over the years my wife and I have increased our tolerance to booze.
When we got married 1 bottle of for 4 people was quite enough.
By our tenth anniversary 1 bottle of wine for 2 people was still too much.
On our twentieth 1 bottle was just right.
Thirty years of marriage made 1 bottle not quite enough.
Red wine is the best for you, my wife likes white. 2 glasses a day is the norm.
Scotch whiskey is very therapeutic for me. Two hefty shots in the evening.
Socially' I will get a wee bit inebriated at a good party (I never drive home after)
My better half will sometimes do the same.
So the question is "How do you know what is just the right amount of booze?"

It's tricky. If you drink too much, you will eventually die. If you don't drink enough, you will eventually die.
I'm gonna die, because I rarely drink? That's it', I'm gonna start
I've never cared too much for the taste of alcoholic beverages. I'd rather my empty calories come in the form of chocolate.

The "experts" have said women should only have one small glass a day of red wine.
I prefer two large glasses but like Lainey says, the calories add up. And then, I want chocolate and cheese, to go with my wine, so it's really bad on my waist.
I have cut way back on my wine consumption over the past 8 weeks since I'm making smarter choices in order to loose weight. I think it's a good thing for me. I know I'm saving money and the weight is coming off. But, I won't quit wine. I like the relaxation that I feel so soon after drinking it. I think my sister should take it up. She's stressed to the max with her out-of-control adopted teen-aged daughter.
The +1 and I seem to have gone the other way. We are not drinking much at all these days. When I was married, my ex and I pretty much had a drink every day after work. Sea breezes were my drink of choice (vodka, cranberry juice, grapefruit juice). I still drink them, just not that often. And kir royales (champagne and Chambord) - love those when I'm out to dinner. I drink wine, but not red - my preference is Pinot Grigio. He thinks his tolerance has gone down, so doesn't drink that much beer now - loves Guinness. Also red wine and Disaronno amaretto.
