Default I have a dilemma......

As some of you know, I am a teacher and in the Great State of Idaho, we still say the Pledge of Allegiance during each day in school. I have a dilemma though:

I know that when the Pledge of Allegiance comes on you are to stop what you are doing, stand, cover your heart with your right hand, and say the Pledge. My question is this: What is the protocol when you are on the toilet doing your business? That's how my day is going.

Just don't stand up! You can do all the rest.

So you can hear the Pledge of Allegiance when you're in the restrooms at your school? Do they have a Flag in there too?

I've never understood why the pledge of allegiance has to be repeated every day. I would imagine an pledge like that would last more than day.

Good for your school, i would think its rare these days for the kids to be able to recite it.

There is a difference between respecting and showing respect. And reciting the pledge is a communal ritual. People don't normally recite it to themselves when alone. When you are sitting on the throne you ar not really part of any group - even if you can overhear the public pledge. IMO you should probably be excused.

"I pledge Allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one nation under God, indivisible,
with Liberty and Justice for all."

^^ I think it's a very good thing to be reminded of this...every day!

It means more to me now than ever...with a son in the Military.
