She was a hottie long before I was born and forever after. And a great talent as well.

I just hear "Stormy Weather."

From all I've ever read, she was a real class act, both onstage and off.

 

She was easily one of the most beautiful woman ever to live, and oh, what a voice. She could shape and shade a song like few others could do. Thank you for those hours of listening enjoyment you gave me.

The story that I heard about her that made her special to me was her refusal to perform at a show to entertain the troops in the south when she learned that German P.O.W.'s had better seats than black U.S. soldiers. That sent the correct message in my book.

Of course as a veteran, I have a warm spot in my heart for entertainers such as her and Bob Hope that entertain the troops.

 

Being a young Vint I can honestly say this was an entertainer I knew and enjoyed.
