Default Rear brakes wearing fast

Hey all, new here on S2Ki... I've had my 2000 s2K for abt 2 years now, the first thing i did to it was replace the brakes, DBA 4000 rotors, Hawk HP Plus pads, Goodrich lines, and ATE Blue fluid. It stops great, but seems to b eating rear brakes, the fts are still 50% good and the rears are shot.... Any thoughts why its eatinig rears, thinking of going down to the lesser grade Hawk HPS rears...

Less material?

idk...but both me and a buddy had our rears go first after two days at the track...fronts on both cars we in better shape. I'd be willing to bet it's normal, but it's the first time I've had to do anything with the brakes on this cars aside from a bleed.

Do you track your car? If you don't then its strange. If you do then its normal, since the rear rotors aren't vented like the frond, they build up a lot more heat than the fronts. The extra heat will cause the pads to wear much faster, especially if they are street pads that were never designed to operate above 800-900F.

Is the rear pad wearing evenly? Is it possible the little divot on the pad is not seated properly in the piston?

lift up the rear wheels and turn them to see if the brakes are dragging, if they are try a parking brake adjustment to loosen them up. Also check if the sliding pins need to be lubed and that you have the proper pins in the proper location, some people mix up the pins and don't notice that the two pins are different.

I havnt trackd the car yet, but i am a bit hard on the brakes on the street... i have checked to see if they were sticking, the wheels spin when its up on a lift. And they were installed right. It seemd to get worse after i put the Yoko AD08's on, i guess from the extra grip. I thought it was a brake balance thing from Honda, but dosent seem like many other plp have the same problem, other than at the track.

The s2000 does come with the brake bias shifted more towards the rear. When/if you get into tracking your car you will notice that just about everyone staggers their brake pads to shift the bias forwards. A common set up is carbotech xp10(front)/xp8(rear) or Cobalt xr2(front)/xr5(rear). Are they oem rear pads? My guess is they are (no offense) crappy pads that are just being murdered by the heat generated from aggressive braking. What size are your ad08s? 215/245?
