stoptech brake package
I was in the market for a BBK and was looking at the stoptech 328mm, but after doing some research it wont fit none of my wheel setup. so i started looking at other things and noticed that stoptech makes a brake kit that has 4 rotors slotted and drilled, their street performance pads and stainless steel lines. i can get this kit for $850 shipped through vividracing. my question is how much of a noticible diffrence is this compared to oem and is it the bang for the buck kind of deal since i cant find a bbk that will fit my current setup? I attend over 10 autoxs a season and weekend car not daily.
So holy god at the punctuation but what i am assuming you are asking is how much replacing your stock rotors with Stoptech rotors and stainless lines...
Braking is determined by the number of pistons, surface area of the pad, and the ammount of force applied. Pad material can also affect this.
I have Hawk HPS+ pads, and Science of Speed Rotors (j slot) and stainless lines. The stopping power is only slightly better than OEM (in my opinion). Slots and drills help keep the pads from glazing over and you not being able to stop. a BBK - Big Brake Kit - is exactly that, a BIGGER brake setup. More pistons, more stopping surface, bigger pads. Also with the extra size you help with heat dissapation to an extent.
That setup is fine for a n/a car with moderate track use. But it you get more power you would need the upgraded brakes to keep up.
Best of Luck,

Why exactly would you need or want BBK for autoX? If anything the added unsprung weight would hurt your times. What is your goal in changing your pads/rotors? Your tires are the big limitation in braking performance... not number of pistons, surface area, ect. $850 is a lot to spend for that package when you can buy those stoptech street pads for $80 and the lines for $150ish.
that kit is worthless.
fancy rotors good for show.
Stoptech pads are weak.
SS lines - OK.
IMO - if you want better stopping (braking and stopping are not the same thing) get your self good tires (go wider if you can), good pads and fresh brake fluid.

Then try more aggressive pads and cheap blank rotors. There are plenty of options that would have more bite than the OEM. You could try the stoptech street pads, but it seems like you're looking for something more like a hawk hp+, carbotech ax6, Carbon Loraine cl5, cobalt xr3 or xr4
