Default Please help with KW V3 suspension

S2ki, I really need your help, i'm supposed to go to the track and (hopefully) show up my brother's 5.0 mustang but now it seems like i might not be able to even go..

I just recently installed the V3's for my 2008 S2000, I've installed 3 suspensions in the past and a lot of other parts so it's not my first time doing an install like this.

The install seemed to go pretty smoothly, when I drove the car it seemed to drive fine with the new setup, no clunks or noises until I yank on the steering wheel to the left and the right, i hear what sounds like a grinding noise coming from the front.

The only thing I think that it could be is for the brake line, I re-used the factory bolt and bought a nut to hold it in place instead of zip tying it to give the car a "cleaner install" and I'm thinking this could be hitting on to the sway bar? When i installed the bolt for the brake line, there was very little clearance room and that's the only thing I think it could be.

If anyone has ever had this problem please can you chime in.

Also another thing to note is that it seems like KW just recently changed their suspension setups for the V3, the bottom adjustment is now a thumb wheel adjustment and the top nut is now replaced by 2 smaller nuts. When doing the install i took the big black washer from the OEM shock, and put it on the KW, then put the top hat on and used the 2 supplied nuts to screw the top hat in place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running stock wheels? How low are you? How loud is the grinding? I dont think you would be able to hear the brake lines from inside the car.

Could have "showed up" brother's 5.0 Mustang on stock suspension.

Lowered the car by about 1 inch, i pretty much took KW's minimum and maximum drop level, and dopped it to the mid point. There's about a finger and a half gap between the fender and the wheel.

Stock wheels, stock suspension other wise. I spoke to KW, they asked me to make sure that the nut on the top of the top hats is tight, so i'll double check that tonight.

Only lowered about 1 inch, I don't get that vibration that a lot of other people gets that need the spacers then again my car is relatively new, not much mileage on it. I noticed it at 30 - 40 mph when I jerk the steering wheel hard to the left or right and I hear it from the front only. Sounds like a grinding noise, not terribly loud but definitely loud enough to notice. I kind of feel it in the steering wheel too.

Check and see if you are rubbing on the fender liner. (if you have them) or the fender itself especially if its not rolled.
Try a stiffer setting and see if it goes away.

little bit of an update. Got home from work.. Took off the bolt and nut for the brake line and zip tied it instead (to see if maybe the brake line bolt was hitting the sway bar). Took it for a drive, still same noise, it's like a grinding noise and I can feel it in the steering wheel only when I jerk the wheel hard left or right.

So I took KW's advise and tried to tighten the nuts that go on the top of the shock, but when I try to tighten that nut it just spins with not much tension but doesn't tighten, so this leads me to believe that's what's causing the noise, the nut is loose and causing the noise but I don't understand why I can't just tighten it from the top, it just spins freely and doesn't torque. How would I be able to get it to tighten? Do I have to totally disassemble the suspension?

You can't tighten it because the entire shaft or rod is spinning when you turn the nut.
