i just wanted to know if putting lowering springs on stock struts a good idea... i know coilovers is the way to go but i just want to lower the car 1.5" all around "no camber"

Also the springs i'm looking at getting are TEIN S-Tech Lowering Springs 1.5" drop all around

Coilovers. Since my car already came with Koni Yellows from the previous owner, I was very tempted to just go the cheaper route and get lowering springs. Friends convinced enough to just get coilovers if I was looking to lower my car. It was a big purchase, but I won't ever regret it.

 

I am on Espelirs Active Super Down lowering springs. They are a tad bouncier than I would prefer, but the car looks good (~1.5-2.0" drop) but with my 18" wheels the LEAST amount of negative camber was like -2.7* and toe was maxed so I was chewing through rear tires like crazy.

I ended up having to buy a $150 SPC camber kit which allowed me to take that camber out and now I'm running a moderate -1.5* of camber and I can set the toe to damn near even so I dont wear out tires every 10k miles anymore.

Do I regret my purchase? Not at all, it was cheap and did what I wanted it to do, and the ride comfort is just as nice as stock.

If you can afford coilovers and that's something that's important to you, I'd say get coilovers, but if your never going to track/autocross your car and are just looking for a moderate drop, I would just get some lowering springs (I'd go with Swift springs nowadays) but if you can't get a decent alignment after you drop the car, I would grab a camber kit asap unless you dont mind changing your tires every 5-6 months

 

4 years DD on Neuspeed springs/stock shocks - some light track duty but used every day - no problems yet..

 

i have tein s-tech on stock struts. their decent but if i had a choice i would definitely go with coilovers since the s-tech came with the S when i bought it.
