17x9 +63 Wheels with a 1" drop question
Hey s2ki. Quick question. Right now I am running wheels that are 17x9 +63 with 255/40/17 tires. I am rubbing against the control arm at full lock and have gotten the 3mm wheel spacers for the front to correct the problem.
I recently bought some eibach pro kits to drop the car but am now concerned about more rubbing if I put them on. I have no desire to roll my fenders. Will I rub with the 1 inch drop or should I just sell the springs. The wheel gap doesn't bother me enough to start screwing around with my fenders, especially after my last car was a civic si where the OEM suspension literally made the car look like it was on stilts.
What do you all think?

There's a good chance it'll hit the fenders without a roll. I'm on stock springs and koni's, with the springs on the lower perch. It's about a 3/4in drop and mine have touched the fenders. And that's without any spacers and the same wheel/tire size as you.
im on the eibachs and was about to do the exact same setup. i was wondering how it was going to fit but it sounds like it is going to have issues. keep us updated.
i have run ap2 rear wheels all the way around before with a 5mm spacer up front to clear the hub (effectively making the wheel a 17x8.5 +60). same 255/40 tires all around. i had rubbing on the inside and the outside of the fender liner. that extra half inch causes an issue apparently

255 is a pretty thick tire for up front, same height as a 225/45 but 30mm wider. A lot of guys that run this tire up front run a thicker sway bar which limits wheel compression at the limit of adhesion and this will help keep the tire from rubbing, its still a challenge though and I think anyone that is lowered at all is going to have some rubbing issues inside or out or both, trick is to center it best as possible with the 'right' camber to keep that rubbing from being detrimental to performance and or fenders. +52-55 on a 9" is closer to the target I have determined. 8.5" +58-60. Remember ride height and camber is going to effect what offset or vice versa.
I had no fender issues with a 1.25" drop - TSW nurburgrings with NT01 255's (all 4) My issue was rubbing on the inside of the engine bay under severe compression. Street driving was fine, there was a bump at our local track where two "routes" of track came together. That was the only place it would rub. I changed front spring rates from 10k to 12k and didn't have the problem again.

I have the eibach pro plus kit. (Springs&swaybars), I have 9.5 inch wheels in the rear and 8.5 inch wheels up front. Springs lowered me a nice 1 inch. Handling is excellent. I don't rub at all, but the cure for a drop plus no rubbing= STRETCHED TIRES
and a little camber then equals excellent handling + a sexy stance
