Mine was 30 bucks... you just need to go to an auto tag agency. with a bunch of different options of what you want...chances are the first few may be taken so be patient. once you choose the one you want it take like 3 months to get, again be patient

Ivan,

I went to a private tag agency, because its faster than going to a county office. You pay a couple of bucks extra for it but its worth it. Here are a list of private tag offices http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/offices/

For general information (lots of info here) you can visit Florida Dept of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/html/titlinf.html

This is the form you need to download and print out to get a vanity plate. Its PDF format. The fee for a vanity plate is $29.60 http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/forms/vanity.html

My plate took about 6 weeks to get here.

Hope this helps

- Gan

P.S. Mods, maybe since this question has arisen a few times, we should put a sticky post with that second link for the Florida Motor Vehicles site (http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/html/titlinf.html). Its got lots of good info for tags, inspections, offices, licenses, rules and regulations etc. It might be helpful for people new to the state or for people with questions about special motor vehicle issues .

Thanks Gan...my mom survived breast cancer the lst bout but it came back two years later. She died peacefully on New Year's Eve 2001. We're losing too many of our wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, etc. to this disease and if putting a plate on my car can help, I'm there. Not to judge those with Miami Heat plates or any other but it's just my small way to let those behind me know that there is one less mom in the world. Maybe when they see that, they too will call theirs for the first time in months to say hello. There were plenty of weekends when I was home wrist-deep in a box of Cheeze-It's, flopped on a sofa complaining about the lack of something to watch on television when I could of been laughing it up with my mom.

A lot of new plates are coming out or have just come out. If i knew that either the Air Force or that the Firefighters were going to be getting one.. I would have gotten one of those. I might switch over when i gotta change plates.. but now i'll stick to my Panthers! ;)

i know it was cheaper to get a normal FL plate if you want to put custom stuff on it. when i got my dolphine plate customed it was $75 i think now when i just that my FL one that says KSSMY-S it was only $30
