Are you really ready for yet another one of these?

The US boys have beat this thing to death over several threads already.
All kinds of "Honda insiders" have been preaching the "last year" for the S for years:

Until it actually happens, you really want to start believing this stuff now?
BTW, what date was it yesterday?

Discontinuing it in its current form should have already happened. It's exceeded Honda's usual 5 year body redesign protocol and compared to cars, that it competes with, it has not kept up with the hp wars. The M class roadster from BMW, the Porsche Boxster for example. The new Miata is even getting too close in performance. With the redesigned NSX,( it's about time), due out within the next couple of years, or sooner, I would have liked to have seen the S2000 keep up to pace.
Don't get me wrong, I love my S2000 but I can now buy a Civic Si with a 200 hp,(197), VTEC engine and a 8000 rpm red line. All for less than $30,000.00. That means there will be too many ricer Civics on the road for my liking.
Flame me if you like, I just wanted to vent.

BuAhaAHAHAHA...Funny, funny.....Definatly an April Fools on the XGA....
There are no plans to make the current S2k a hardtop coupe.
The next generation sports car will look similar to this
The S2000 IS definatly going to be Axed after this year...im not joking about that one.

it doesn't make sense to make changes to only one model year and then discontinue it.
Sometimes, it's really hard to know what motivates a car company to do what they do.

but is this something you would think Honda would do? Pull out your mystic ball before you answer
Really, I don't know. Honda may be one of the top auto makers in the world, but they are still driven by bean counters, company philosophy and tradition that's tempered with modern day business pressures, not to mention pressures from within. Like any big corporation, I'm sure there are competing elements within the company that duke it out all the time, but in the more "civilized" Japanese model. We, the consumer, will never really know for sure until time passes. And to add to the drama, I don't doubt that there are entities in Honda that read all the crap we post up here to use as a thermometer of what they ought to do.

I would love to see Honda stop production but it doesn't make sense to make changes to only one model year and then discontinue it.
