2019 Niagara Cruise - WE'RE ON FOR SAT MAY 18
 

Hey everyone, it's that time of year again to start talking about the cruises!

Our first one will be the Niagara one for May 18. We also usually do a Muskoka one in Aug/Sep, and end the year off with another Niagara one in Sep/Oct.

PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER START TIME OF 11 AM. WE GOT A GOOD RESPONSE TO THIS LAST YEAR AS THE CRUISE ENDED EARLIER AROUND 2 PM, FREEING UP MORE OF THE DAY FOR OTHER THINGS YOU MAY HAVE PLANNED (AND HELPING PEOPLE AVOID SUNBURN).

If this your first cruise, we'd like you to come out! It's a fun, social and relaxing cruise through the Niagara region that ends up being more of a S2000 parade (especially when we get 20 to 30 of us). If you feel the need to demonstrate your #trackskillz, this is not that type of cruise, bro. :drive: There'll be 3-4 hours of driving, including pit stops for photos, snacks, and as usual, Thorold Tunnel. At the end of the cruise, we grab a bite and a drink somewhere. Post up if you can make it!

GTA PRE-MEET: Sherway Gardens at 0850, leave by 920 (click for exact location)
MEET UP LOCATION: Casablanca rest stop (click for exact location)
MEET UP TIME: 10 AM (socialize, eat and gas)
DEPARTURE TIME: 11 AM SHARP
LATE LUNCH: TBD

CRUISE ROUTE: TBD

GENERAL POINTERS:
1. Bring a radio if you have one (Channel 0)
-This is, quite possibly, the most important thing to bring. It'll prevent you from getting lost and it makes the ride more fun with the ongoing chatter.

2. Keep your headlights on
-It makes a big difference to be able to see the tail lights in front of you and the headlights in your mirrors.

3. 2-Car Rule
-Whenever you make a turn or are getting on/off the highway, make sure you can see 2 cars behind you before turning.
-if you really must turn because you're holding up traffic, then stop right after the turn so the car behind you can see you (there may have been a few cars between you guys).

4. Stay within the yellow and white lines
-Sorry if I'm being Captain Obvious here, but we cannot emphasize this enough - safety is paramount and we're on public roads. We've never been pulled over by the police and we'd like to keep it that way. :cool:

We've got 20 cars, do I hear 25?!

As much as I want to join the cruise (never done one), I'm worried about stone chips from all the highway driving and the added km to my low mileage s2k (05 78k). Or am I being a little b*tch?

Nah you’re fine, a couple hundred kms aren’t going to change the resale value. You’re still a long ways away from 100k for a summer car.
Plus S2000s aren’t as sensitive as let’s say, German cars when it comes down to mileage and resale. Being reliable means better resale.

As for stone chips I worry about them too while driving on the highway so I try to stay well behind transport trucks and other vehicles in general, when possible. Some are inevitable though. Same goes for the cruise, keep some distance between yourself and the car in front on the country roads. By the way this cruise is nothing compared to the thousands of kilometres the group did going on the Dragon trip - that’s where you really need to worry about stone chips!

New member here. Hi all! Contemplating a S2000 purchase in the future but rarely see one up here in Aurora.

Dying to see your cars in person. and just happen to heading down to NOTL this weekend with my wife. Where and when will you be down in Niagara? Hope to break away from “all the cute shops” (my wife’s words) and get a chance to say hello.

The memories made during cruises like this are worth the few hundred kms you'll rack up. Stone chips can happen anywhere, just keep your distance. Ill be bringing by MY00 with 12k on it ;)

Weather is forecasted to be sunny, so fingers crossed. I'll be at the GTA pre-meet to lead the drive down to Casablanca.

Thanks Spoon Fed. I’m at the mercy of my wife and a friend but will try my best to hook up. If not, will certainly do my best to catch one of the other GTA events. It’s not every day one can see an S2000, let alone 20-30 of them!

Not sure if this is known but I've just been told Thorold tunnel has construction going on right now. FYI just incase! Look forward to going either way!

Weather still looks clear, though cloudy for Saturday. We'll make the call tomorrow afternoon/evening both in the post and the post title in case we decide to go with the rain date.

Thanks for coming out yesterday - I think we had 19 S2000s! And we didn't lose anyone, so that was a bonus.

As long as you guys keep coming out, Adrenalize and I will keep organizing them. The next cruise will be the Muskoka one, likely in September, date TBD.

At 3:30 is where we passed the Niagara jeep club then that guy who was SOOO excited to see us out on the side of the road lol
