Looks like we are in for some serious nonsense for those of us who have modified cars...may be time to part out...

So they won't be putting newer cars on the dyno anymore?

That sounds better, so if your cat off foobared but you ecu doesn't have a clue you are good to go?

What it does mean is if you have a stupid evap code like my truck has since I bought it, it would fail. That would suck as the canister is expensive and I have no reason to change it.

Confirmed what I thought, stupid test. An s2000 with a test pipe will pass but a clean car with a code will not.

So if Im reading this correctly, all the test is going to be is an OBD plug in and see if the car throws off a code ?

Essentially for modified cars you would need to swap back to an oem ecu for the test ?

What about for FI, would you need to swap back to oem injectors ? In turbo applications how would that work. I figure with a supercharger you just take the belt off

If fighting pollution is the main reason for this, then finding out how much pollution is coming from the tailpipe should be the only concern. Apparently not with what type have in mind.

From the surface, it looks like a way to force repair work. I cannot see how this will reduce pollution.

It's to "protect" consumers.

To be fair if this existed when I bought my truck it would have failed etest and they would have had to fix it. I have an evap code, it doesn't affect anything except I get a light once and awhile and I clear it. With the new system they would have detected the code because you aren't allowed to clear your codes, if you do they make you come back, they can tell if it hasn't completed a check sequence.

But for the most part, yeah it's just a money grab.

MTO and environment Canada were doing spot checks this weekend in Mississauga near dundas and mavis, looking for decats, loud exhausts, unfit vehicles etc. I saw about 5 cars get towed away; 4 of 5 were 90s civics.
