Civic Type R
Hey guys, remember me? Its been almost almost 1 year since I sold my MINT AP1. I been away from the forums for a while but being a member since 2005 I thought I would share some news. I take delivery of my 2019 Civic R tomorrow after a long 6 month wait. Here are some photos when it arrived at the dealership. I’ll sneak by one of your meets this year (with Nick)... and we can all some old school laughs! https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...400f8f84d.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...b003f7c63.jpeg |
That is fantastic, congrats buddy, I love the colour. Is that at Westgate ? , just asking so I can sneak in there late tonight and steal it prior to tomorrow, lol. GL with the drive home.

Nice, it's a shame they're shutting down the UK factory...wonder what's going to happen to the CTR. Good investment!

Yep, that's the one. Honda says due to 'electrification' of their cars.
|
FCK yeah!
I always love driving a typeR. Great seats, fun to drive, power in spades- Out of the box they are an autocross weapon. Since our typeR friend can't make the RTD trip this year, you should come instead to help break yours in properly. niiiice! darcy |

Most importantly did you get a volume knob ? lol Did you get any options on it, like the shift knob etc. I like the optional shift knob. |

wow, I never heard that, crappy news for UK. I had a relative that worked at Swindon a few years back, but he wasn't happy working/living there and moved to Canada. I think they could move production to North America, that would be cool.
|
Congrats on the purchase Jinder! It would be awesome if you could attend one of our meets this year  |
As for the plant closing it’s not until 2022. This gen of Civic will be out of production by then anyways. Who knows if we will ever see another Type R after this one. |
Congrats man! Few years ago I settled with a WRX as my other daily driver but my heart is always with the CTR since came out!
|
Congrats! Beautiful machine especially in white! Love the Type-R but couldn't justify getting one while keeping the S2000. Just traded in our 2011 CSX for a 2019 VW Golf GTI 7-speed DSG with DAP for daily driving. Was considering Civic Hatchback but wanted something with a little bit more power, non-CVT, and with blindspot indicator instead of the camera.
Would definitely get a Type-R if I didn't have the S2000. If someone is looking for a Golf R apparently St. Catherine's VW has TEN 2018 Golf R in stock and you can probably negotiate down to invoice price! |

Can't wait for Spring to get them out again. Enjoy your new ride, Jinder! |

I've said it before- when the CR came out I thought with all the aero- "bonkers". Then, when I saw the CR and TypeR together, I thought the typeR was "MORE BONKERS!"
Still love them both! darcy |
Congrats!! Huge fan of championship white.
|
I always thought that Championship white was a bright white similar to the GPW on the S2000. It wasn't until I started seeing the new CTRs that I realized they are a bit off-white, a bit of a yellow tinge to them, it is a very unique white.

Thank you all! Can’t wait to see you guys again this summer! |

I don't own one, but jvf1 has honoured me and I've driven his several times. My impression is lots of quiet torque and power with spectacular handling, but there is a lack of drama. I still love the look of the TypeR.
If I owned one, I'd put straight pipes on it to make it more vocal- kinda like Dean's (local TypeR owner). If I could only own one car, and one car only...it would be a typeR. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. darcy |

I can't buy GM...ok, I'd buy a used Camaro SS 1LE- holeee F balls that car put a big grin on my face.
I figure someone will be still making manual shift vehicles in 5 years...or they better. I find myself walking into dealerships just to ask the question I know the answer to- "do you guys put a manual in the X? Oh, you don't. That's too bad- I can't spend my money here." SO, who still puts a real transmission in new vehicles? Mazda3, Nissan Qashqui, Nissan 370Z, Fiat500 Abarth, Challenger Hellcat (!), Chevy Camaro, Corvette, Hyundai Veloster (N!), VW Golf/Jetta, Ford Mustang, Kia Something or other, Porsche Boxster, 911 (barely), Subaru WRX, BMW 2 series. But the trend is to keep 3 pedals out of the hands of soccer dads and moms ie, family cars, or interesting family type vehicles. But, Honda still puts manuals in several vehicles I like- accord 2.0T being one...and of course, the TYPE R! Looks like I'll need to buy one, eh? darcy |
Buy one Darcy :) |

They're a track weapon out the box too! It's immensely capable at the track provided you don't overheat it. It really threw us at OTA for a loop when it was introduced. Needed some tweaking on the classes because on Mosport GP it was keeping some insane speeds on Andretti straight.

Price on these Type R are really coming down. Saw a few dealers offering a few with under 5000km for just $36,000. That seems like a bargain.
|
They should depreciate in value to some degree. Everyone knows these cars will be driven hard so if someone wants to sell a used one they are going to have to take a loss up to 25 percent depreciation in the first year much like any other car. You can still find new ones on the dealer lots so used ones have to be priced in that range IMO, a good deal for someone. Plus Honda dealers screw you on trade in value regardless of the vehicle, but when they sell you a new car they all brag about high resale value of their cars.. I got a better trade in value for my Civic at Subaru compared to what my local Honda dealer was willing to pay for it, that was an eye opener.
If they are selling a used ctr for 36k, some poor schmuck likely had to give it back to them for $31k and the dealer is putting it back up for sale for a 5k profit while the original owner lost 10-12k. |

Welcome to the Club man, we could hangout in our CTRs |
I drive by a black and white one on a daily basis and they look like suv size to me. That picture demonstrates it clearly |
