Default convincing a friend to buy an S2000

hi all,

so, i've been trying to convince a friend that the S2000 is one of the best "bang for buck" roadster/convertibles out there.

anyways, last night i was out with rahul (1badride) and the friend and we were talking about it and then this morning he called me and said to ask around on the board for used S2000's in good shape.

if anyone knows of any used S2000's in southern ontario, please advise on this thread or pm me.

thanks.

ps. at the end of the night, i told the friend that i'm through trying to convince him on the virtues of the S2000 (compared to boxster, 330ci, clk320, etc.)....i guess he came to his senses by morning

There is a '01 Silverstone/Red at Ideal Honda that they were willing to deal on when I was looking. Ask for Clark.

It only had about 5K km on it. It currently belongs to the dealerships owner.

Hope this helps.

we looked at all those this morning - no "deals" really.

btw, what would YOU pay for an '01 with avg clicks (say 10-15K)?

they're typically in the $44-45K range.

i told him a deal would be $40-41K (3-4 grand off)

nabeel (itr racer) is selling his on globeandmail.com for $45.5K with 12k. i think his would be in good shape cause he's not a "hard" driver.

please keep the comments/suggestions coming...

I just took a look at the auto trader link just to see what they are at...

Check out this one....what an idiot - some dealership make me laugh, you can get a BRAND NEW ONE for a grand more...if you are unlucky enough to pay full MSRP, less if you deal on it.

I am not sure if he can get it that cheap with that type of mileage, but I hope he does it.

btw, he ONLY wants silverstone or sebring silver (2002).

That car is one to stay away from.

Its been there forever, I called about it a LONG time ago and the one sales guy, can't remember his name said to stay away from it..its been beaten the hell out of at the track and had its rearend replaced.

They need to drop the price down about 20k and maybe someone will buy it who's handy

That is one dealership I've tried to deal with and they will not deal period..and I have no idea why.

Just out of curiosity, I called Ideal to see what the price of that '01 Silver was. $46,896 + $299 Admin. I said you realize that is only about $1600 above a new one at MSRP (PDI would also apply to a new one). I told them that I knew someone looking for Silver but that was too high. That is about a 3% premium for a new one. I think when someone is looking at buying this car for this kind of $$$, they will buy a new one for the price difference, especially if they are paranoid about break in etc. They will buy an older one only if they can get a good deal. I told him I did not view this as a deal. He said put in an offer, I said I would pass it on, but don't hold your breath.

That's why I did not purchase from them, but maybe they want to move this one, it's been there for months.
Idle stock....

Hope this helps.

Not what you're looking for, but its all I know of right now. I'll keep an eye out
