Failed OEM oil filter
First oil change i've performed on a S2000 I picked up last year. Decided to cut it open like most of my filters to do a quick check and noticed the filter media torn away from the glue. And even the glue is pretty sloppy. I've encountered the failure multiple times with a John Deere filter M806419 which, coincidentally is the same filter type used on a S2000. Those particular filters were made by Champ Labs. These Honda filters say Filtech. I only run Donaldson or Baldwin filters for this reason. Might be something to keep an eye on incase it isn't a one time thing with OEM filters.

darcy |
Hmmm, that filter looks so short in the picture.
|
Doesn't look like the correct Honda 15400-PCX-004 filter
|
I noticed the same thing .. .filter looks very short in the pic
|
Probably looks short cuz it was cut to pull the filter out?
|
do you have monster hands???
everything looks small diameter element height pic of part number on filter please |
I have a new filter in my hand as I type this, there is no part number on the filter and his pics look identical to the filter I hold. He cut the filter and that is why it is shorter than normal.
