I used to have a Bulletin Board System (BBS) and used a 1200 Baud modem.

first modem was a 14.4k; didn't visit any BBSs but used to transfer home work (word docs) for group projects... something about using the z-download modem protocol? lol

i remember always having to do this after 11 p.m. (when people stop using the phone / they'd be asleep) otherwise someone in my house would pick up the phone and kill the connection.
