that's exactly it, they make enough on regular sedans for the moment, but i saw some 500bhp beast of a prototype, so we'll see..
and they are thinking of pulling out of F1 should their results not improve in the next 2 seasons as they are not in F1 to be embarrassed by Honda

I will admit I am biased; I'm no fan of Toyota. To me they have the largest selection of non-attractive and boring vehicles of any large automotive company. Admittedly their products are well built, but there is more to life than dependability. I, like climacus, have absolutely no idea why they are in F1, they are not going to get F1 fans buying their cars or trucks, and if they do it will be tiny percentage.

true, but there are A LOT of fringe F1 fans with families and not enough disposable income to go out and buy a BMW or Mercedes or Porsche.
remember, there are 1 billion F1 fans....and the majority are NOT upper-middle class.
my cousin is an F1 fan and has 3 toyotas - a solara conv, a highlander and a camry.....i'm not saying he got them b/c toyota has an F1 team, but it's participation in F1 has kept the brand "fresh" in his mind....and let's not forget, on top of that, they DO make great products afterall.
i love hockey, but i can't afford to even go to a game.....i've never paid to watch it live.....i simply can't afford to.
i've gone many times, but the tix have been free.

Just proves it... Honda's better than Toyota . J/k, but yeah i don't think F1 has a big impact in sales, least not for me. I still buy a Honda before a Toyota even if the teams switched and BAR was losing and Toyota was winning.

Toyota don't even make a sports car anymore
I've been chatting with a few on the "toyota camp" and they tell me that Toyota are going to release something new along the lines of their Supra Turbo line.
Insiders suggest a good 300-350bhp from a turbocharged engine, and either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
