Lots have had to replace bearings at aprox 80K km. It was quite common actually. This was due to the improper torque rating for the axle nuts (Ian's fault).

A constant clicking could be a bad bearing.

If you're certain there is nothing in the tire (nail/screw/rock in the tread) then it is most likely the bearing.

Honda increased the torque rating for the axle nuts from 180 to 250ft-lbs to prevent the issue.
I've got the single click as described above. Got a pair of new axle nuts but haven't got around to this task - I should stop slacking and get it done.

Oh, and I think the revised torque spec is 220 ft-lbs.

I also get an intermittent clicking sound from the rear when I'm turning slowly (both directions), which is predominant when there is no load on the drivetrain.

I basically hear it turning in parking lots when the is clutch engaged.

No rocks, nails, etc., in tires. Brake pads aren't shifting. CV boots in good shape (but joints themselves may still be bad I guess). Tried a variety of diff fluids.

I've tried to replicate it with the rear up on stands but don't hear anything, not enough load I suspect.

I'm hoping it goes away with the new axle nuts and updated torque spec....

Any ideas?

My bad it's 220 lb-ft not 250.

Also you don't need new axle nuts. I just took mine off, cleaned up the tread on the nut and the axle, then applied antiseize.

^ aside from the clicking sound - what detrimental effects would this have on the car if not addressed?

oh and how long did you let the clicking go on before tightening the axle nut?

[QUOTE=Jasonoff,Jul 8 2007, 03:09 PM] If you let that worsen it will eventually kill your bearing.

Lots have had to replace bearings at aprox 80K km.
