Default Hood dampers

Gents,

I was thinking about getting a set of dampers to eliminate the prop rod while working in the engine bay. I would appreciate any input on your experiences with them as they range all over the board in price. I want to buy a good quality set but not have to go without groceries for a month. Mostly looking for pros and cons on durability and function.

Learn the hood prop trick where you put it on the passenger side while working on the car.

$0.

I know that trick, pain in the a$$ filling the engine with oil with the prop rod in your face and chest though.

I did some research on this before because I wanted to buy some (but never ended up doing so). If I bought some now I would go with the science of speed dampers: https://www.scienceofspeed.com/index...0-2000-09.html. With the dollar right now they are crazy expensive though...

The SOS look like the best ones out there. The hood prop never seemed to be much of a concern for me though, it works well enough.

got the SoS dampers for christmas from the GF. Love them. Very high quality and easy install. It can also make the hood go straight up and down which is nice because my hood use to block a ton of light from my garage light, now it allows the light to shine in the bay

Would really consider the SOS dampers but it would be close to $400CND with shipping. There has to be other high quality dampers on the market at a reasonable cost? Tein, NRG or JDM Password?

Looking for performance opinions and not just the best overall damper. Thanks.

I haven't had any issue with my NRG ones in two years.
