How long do clutches usually last?
 

Ok so on the weekend i noticed that any time i gave my car gas it didn't really have too much go power. it sounded normal it didn't feel right though. I noticed that something was slipping but i couldn't smell clutch. At first it was only when i hit v-tech but this morning it was any time i put the pedal to the medal. What do you guys think, it is my clutch or could it be something else?

I know my clutch releases late which is why i think that's what the problem is but i am wondering why i can't smell it. Any help would be great.

How many km on your car? Asking how long a clutch lasts is like asking how long your tires will last or how long shoes last. Too many variables.

Get your clutch fluid changed for starters and go from there.

There's 60k on my car and i have no idea how the dude before me drove it. I've never had a clutch go so fast so maybe he didn't know how to drive it. I've only had the car for 10k km's.

They can last a decade or ten seconds; it really is up to the driver.

I have 73K on mine now. Got it at 60ish. Clutch felt like crap. High engage point etc.

My clutch fluid was like ink. Felt like new after it was changed.

Don't forget these clutchs are not very strong. They have a somewhat low clamping force. So if you don't get on the clutch quick they will slip a little longer under power.

There is no way to really answer this question. People who abuse their clutch and make bad downshifts will experience a shorter lifespan.

A clutch will start to slip in the taller/higher gears first; such as driving down the expressway in 6th and you just stand on the gas, the car speed stays the same but the revs go up. When a car is slipping in the taller gears it is very unusual to have slip in like first, well that is unless the clutch is COMPLETELY whipped.

Changing the fluid is a very wise first step if you are concerned.

Well i stopped in to see Albert today and now i have a Spoon clutch and lightened flywheel on order. Let's hope i make it to next week before my clutch is completly gone.

So your oem clutch is done?

It's stiff, has a super high engage point (which i was told was a Honda thing, apparently not) and it slipps even when it's supposed to be engaged.
