Licence plate covers - Illegal
I just bought a tinted set. Good thing I didn't open them yet and still have the receipt. Apparently even the clear ones are illegal. What a joke.

Makes you wonder why they even sell them in Ontario then, and even sell them at Service Canada. Its not like you are going to put them on your track car. A guy I work with just got busted for this.

Technically speaking they're illegal and you can get ticketed for obstructing your plate but I too have tinted covers and have never had any issues. It's a pretty bulkshit law even about the clears being illegal seeing as some car dealerships plate frames are a complete clear cover but you won't get ticketed for those.

I've never had any issues in Ontario for 11 years. I was once pulled over in Quebec with a Newfoundland plate but she let me off saying next time I go through Quebec make sure I don't have covers. I need to buy a couple for my new DD so I better get them before crappy tire discontinues the sale of them...

I have one on our suv and got pulled over but only received a warning to remove it. One warning in over 5 years isn't enough to scare me to remove it. I worry more about my 20% tint lol

I once gave my sister a set of blue tinted ones since I changed vehicles , I had them on my car for 3 years without issue, she got pulled over the first day she had them on her car, lol.
I've run clear ones on all of my vehicles for the last 30 years, sometimes I've had lightly tinted ones, but mostly clear.
